Don’t Stay at the Temple Bar Hotel, Dublin —
Seriously – if you value your sleep or your sanity, don’t waste your money staying at the Temple Bar Hotel in Fleet Street, Dublin.
As I type it’s 01:25am and I can’t sleep because the management seemed to think that building a nightclub in a hotel would be a good idea – of course, there’s no mention of it on their website. At the moment, all I can hear is the constant thumping bass from the club below and the screams of drunken hen parties and pissed up stags.
You would think that a hotel with a nightclub attached would at the very least have the common sense to double glaze the windows and add some kind of sound proofing, but apparently that’s not the case – the windows are wooden framed and single glazed, almost as if to enhance the amount of noise that can get through!
I just rang down to reception to see if we could be transferred to another room further away from the noise, in the hope of getting some shut eye and all they did was offered to bring up some ear plugs! If they stock earplugs, then they must know they have a noise problem, yet their website has this to say:
Temple Bar Hotel Dublin gives you the space to live, work and relax during your stay.
RELEAXING? This place has been anything but relaxing! Quite frankly, I’m fed up and pissed off – I don’t object to people having fun, but you expect to be able to sleep when you stay at a hotel and sticking a nightclub in the same building is anything relaxing.
Update: 02:20am – crowd noise is now even louder and some twat has parked up his car and has been honking away like a muppet for the best part of 10 minutes. Ah well, at least the club shuts in about ten minutes… perhaps we’ll get *some* sleep tonight if we’re lucky.
