Copied by the Big Bang Theory? —
I’ve never really been one to worry aboutÃ? plagiarism, I mean it’s not like most of my writing is up to much, so I was kind of surprised when I heard something from my blog apparently being repeated on one of my fave shows – The Big Bang Theory.
In the episode entitled ‘The Luminous Fish Effect‘ (first aired on October 15th 2007) Sheldon makes the following speech:
It occurs to me – if I ever did perfect a time machine I would just go into the past and give it to myself, thus eliminating the need for me to invent it in the first place.
Pretty funny huh? Well… it should be, cos it sounds just like this blog entry that I posted back in October 2006, nearly a year before that episode aired.
…If I invented time travel in the future I would go back to my past and teach myself how to do it, therefore if I were to invent time travel in my future, I would already know how to travel through time.
Admittedly, the Big Bang version is moreÃ? eloquentlyÃ? written than my version, and if they did copy it from me then I’m more flattered than annoyed- it was just a bit of a shock to hear it on TV. It’s probably just a co-incidence I mean these scripts are normally in development for years before airing aren’t they?

Actually, I’ve never read your blog (until my blog clipper caught the “Big Bang” reference this morning, but apparently great minds think alike.
For years I’ve observed that a time machine never has to be invented (for the reasons we’ve both set out). Generally after I make the observation, I take a piece of paper, write today’s date and a time about two hours hence. I put the paper in my wallet and say that if I hold on to this piece of paper, when I get access to a time machine, this is the point to which I’ll return.
Every time I do this, when it gets close to the time on the piece of paper, the group stops what it’s doing and waits expectantly for a moment.

I sort of think this would be a common response to the time machine question. It’s a bit like the 3 wishes question:
What would you do if you had 3 wishes?
Answer: I’d wish for 3 more wishes.
OMG OMG OMG! Writer of my fave show writes on my blog!
Excitement overdose!
Thanks for writing – I love that you’ve taken the time out to respond to me on my crappy little blog!
