Another One Converted! —

So… I went over to my mums today, what with it being mothers day n all and while I was there she mentioned that her Windows machine had packed up *again*. This is the 5th Windows box she’s purchased in five years, and despite having antivirus installed they always end up riddled with scumware within a matter of months.

They were talking about buying a new computer, and I suggested they get a mac. At first she was put off by the price, but when I explained that one Ã?£950 iMac will last as long (if not longer) than the five Ã?£600 PC’s that she’s bought over the years and be almost completely immune to virii, trojans and malware the initial expense didn’t seem quit as bad. Of course, that’s before you take into consideration how much more attractive an all in one iMac is and that elitist feeling owning Apple hardware makes you feel!

After a bit of umming and ahhing she agreed to come and take a look at one in the local PCWorld. Five minutes later and we were walking out of the store with a brand new 20″ iMac. As always – setup was a breeze – it was up and running in no time and before I knew it, my mum was happily surfing the web, importing her photos and watching movies.

Of course, there was something in it for me as well. Now I’m never going to have to waste hours formatting a machine riddled with viruses just to get it functional again!

Update: After seeing my mums new mac, my Auntie also went out and got one! That’s another one converted! Go me!
