Can anyone explain to me what the hell the BBC were thinking when they decided to put the new series on at 6.20pm? I can only assume that it’s because they’re trying to get more kids watching, rather than appealing to the hardcore adult fanbase… still, at least the adults have Torchwood!
NB. The pic is me at the Dr Who exhibition in Cardiff Bay – I went last weekend!
I just found this awesome website that lets you make funky ten frame stop motion animations using your webcam. I made a couple, which you’ll see below, however I had to fiddle with my flash settings in order to make it find the webcam build into my macbook.
If you use an Apple Laptop such as a macbook or macbook pro, you’ll need to select “usb video class video” as your camera type before it’ll work (it’s likely the same on iMacs as well!).
Anyway… here’s my thing – enjoy (and don’t forget to link to yours!).
Update: Dammit – the digg effect killed it just as I was saving my second attempt!
Well… I knew all this good news was too much to be true. Sadly, my second pet hamster Maxx died peacefully in his sleep sometime today. Maxx has been hanging around far longer than most hamsters usually do, he was three and a half when he died, and sadly starting to go grey and loose his hair.
As much as I loved my other pets, Maxx has always sort of been my favourite, mostly because he was so friendly and easy to handle compared to my other hamsters. I’m sad to see him go.
I’ve just upgraded WordPress to the latest version and so far, I’m pretty impressed!
I think the think that shocked me most was the new almost-automatic plugin upgrade feature which allows you to upgrade any plugin to the latest version with one click! You can’t get easier than that, and now I have no excuse for out of date plugins!
I’m going to keep playing and I’ll update this post with any interesting tidbits that I find!
Update: Ooooh… built in gallery support as standard.
Update: Doesn’t seem to be any problems with my theme so far. Thank god for that!
Update: I’m not especially fond of this new admin theme, it’s too… errrm… different. I’m sure I’ll get used to it in time.
Update: I just realised, I never bothered styling the comments – I should probably fix that at some point.
Yay – only one month until Grand Theft Auto 4 is released! Naturally, being the ubergeek that I am, I have it on pre-order (and have done for a couple of months!).
I’ve been waiting for GTAIV ever since I finished San-Andreas back on my Playstation 2, but the recent news that the new game will also include multiplayer content pretty much finished me off. GTA4 is released on April 31st, If Game are as good as they have been in the past, I may recieve it on the 30th!
Well, I’m dead chuffed – I’ve just received a promotion at work which means that rather than doing the strange shifts that I’m doing at the moment, I will instead be enjoying normal 9 – 5:30 office hours again. I’ve been doing shifts for the last four years that have led to me working until as late as 10pm some times. This is great news for me because it means I can do two things I’ve been absolutely GAGGING to do for as long as I can remember.
Firstly, I’m starting a ten week photography evening class – I’ve been into photography since I was a child but never really understood the technical side of photography, after this course, I’ll probably move on to do the three further learning courses – hopefully, it’ll result in a marked improvement in my skills. In the past, these classes have always clashed with my working hours but now I’m free to take on as much stuff in my free time as I like!
Second, I can finally join my local photography club, again they meet in the evenings in a time when I would have normally been working, but now due to my new found freedom, I can start attending (that is once my course has finished – sadly the two clash!).
For me, this job change really will be life changing – I’ll be able to eat at a normal time, develop a regular(ish) sleep cycle and even consider socialising every once in a while! I start the new job on April 14th – I can’t wait!
OK, I’m confused – for the past year or so, the DVLA have been bragging about how they now store all car tax information in their big ole database and will fine you if you’re even a microsecond late to renew your tax. So why is it that even though the information is all stored digitally that they still insist on issuing crappy paper tax discs? The police have instant access to the DVLA database from their cars and the DVLA know if you’re late paying anyway, so what’s the point in wasting tax payers money producing stupid paper discs?
If anyone has any insight, please let me know because I’m confused!
I just noticed, that since I installed Aksimet a couple of years back it’s caught over 22,000 spam comments! Jesus, I bet if it weren’t for all the spammers this site wouldn’t get any traffic at all!
Is anyone else fed up of pages on Facebook timing out / not loading / erroring? I seem to have no end of problems with it and I’m getting pissed off. I’ve never been a huge fan anyway, but everyone else uses it so I feel like I sort of have to!
Recently my sister purchased an iPod Nano off ebay after failing to get one from local stores due to supply issues (every iPod retailer in her town has been out of stock for ages!). Unfortunately, the iPod broke after a day of arriving, never to work again. So she called me to find out what happens next – naturally, I said call Apple and they’ll sort it out for you.
So she called Apple, spoke to a lovely person in a foreign call center only to find out that the serial number was invalid and wouldn’t be covered under any warranty! So when I popped into see them today, she showed me the iPod (which I’ve kept for shits and giggles) and being the geek I am, could immediately tell it was counterfeit.
So here’s the challenge… take a look at the pictures below and tell me what the six give away signs are that this is a totally fake iPod Nano (apologies for the crap pictures – I took them in a rush with my iSight as I couldn’t be bothered to get the camera out!). Kudos and a BJ from Steve Jobs to the first person to correctly identify all six!
PS – Just kidding about the BJ, Steve the Great isn’t that way inclined!
