5 iPhone Accessories I think we’ll see before the UK get’s the iPhone!

I can’t wait for the iPhone, but being a UK Apple geek it’s going to be a while before I get to see one in the flesh, due to the provider contract tie-in I doubt there will be many availble to import (as I did with the original iPod Mini) so I’ll probably be waiting a while.

However, after reading todays news that 3rd Party Cocoa Apps might be coming to the iPhone after all, my mind has been running wild about exciting new accessories that might be coming to the iPhone real soon (especially those that combine custom apps with the hardware!)

1. GPS / Sat Nav – I’m pretty certain that someone like TomTom or GriffinTech is already working on a dock-connector compatible GPS unit that ties in with the Google Maps app to give you real satellite navigation in your iPhone (how cool would that be?).

2. External Battery – Need more battery power for long journeys? No problem, someone will offer up an external battery that can power/charge your iPhone on the go (in fact, there are already iPod accessories that will probably do this).

3. Handsfree Kit – In no time at all someone will have a bluetooth handsfree kit specifically designed for iPhone users in the car. It’ll probably combine a dock, speaker, charger, mic combo

4. Docking ‘real’ keyboard – I’ve heard so many people moaning about having to use the onscreen keyboard, that it’ll just be a matter of time before someone releases a crappy little plastic keyboard that sits at the bottom of your iPhone (think blackberry).

I’m sure there will also be a flurry of skins and cases available within minutes of the launch and a few unexpected official apple iPhone accessories as well (iPhone socks anyone?) ;)

What accessories are you looking forward to seeing for the iPhone? Personally for me I think a docking GPS unit is going to be essential to get the best from the built in mapping functionality. Even if it doesn’t include SatNav functionality it would be awesome to be able to open the maps software wherever you are and have it show you straight away where you are.
