Enjoying the Vision!

Wow… these contact lenses are pretty damn cool. Now that my eyes are adjusted to the lenses, as of tomorrow I’ll be able to wear these lenses continuously for 30 days and 29 nights. Tomorrow night I’ll actually be able to sleep in my lenses. 30 days? Pretty cool how technology develops. I should imagine you’ll soon by able to buy continuous wear lenses that you can leave in indefinitely.

It’s really strange wearing lenses after 15 years of glasses – I now have ‘proper’ periphery vision again – I can actually see things in focus out of the corner of my eye. It’s taken a bit of getting used to but I’m really happy.

I do get a bit of eye strain after a long coding session but I’m sure that will pass once I’m completely used to the lenses. If not, I guess I’ll just have to pop them out and put my glasses on for a bit.

I’m still having a bit of trouble getting them in and out, but that’s just because I have freakishly sensitive eyes. The missus just sticks hers straight over the middle of her eye, I have to look to one side and put the lens on the white of my eye and sort of slide it over. It’s not a problem except that sometimes the lenses don’t quite stick and fall out.

I was thinking of buying some ‘fun’ coloured lenses soon, but they don’t affect your eyesight so if I wear them I’ll be pretty much blind and I don’t think you can wear two sets of lenses at once!

Got Contacts?

Today was a big day for me – I got tested and fitted with contact lenses! What’s more, the lenses can be worn continuously for 30 days solid before being changed (including bed time!). I do have to go through a ‘warm up’ period where i wear them for increasingly long amounts of time, but by this time next week the spectacles will be gone forever!

If I stop wearing glasses does that mean I won’t be a proper geek any more?

GigPickin

Well… I’ve seem them perform twice now and finally managed to pick a band for our wedding and August 31st is still available thank god. Now all I have to do is pick a photographer for the day and get my suits sorted then that’s all the major stuff out of the way. All that’s left is flowers, food and the other fiddley bits and then we’re sorted.

God it’s a never ending uphill struggle to get everything organised. Why on earth would anyone want to do this more than once?

It’s been a while…

Hey ho boys and girls – I guess it’s been a while since I’ve blogged properly (and we all know that automated del.icou.us crap doesn’t count as blogging!). Please don’t take it personally – I still love you all, I’m just really really busy at the moment. As of this exact second I’m currently:

  • Organising a wedding
  • Moving House
  • Working on Freelance projects
  • Holding down a day job

So i guess you can see why I haven’t really had much time to blog of late and to be honest, it’s probably gonna continue like this for the next few months at the very least.

Anyway… here’s a quick summary of what I’ve been up to lately:

Remember my recent fight with the Alliance and Leicester bank to claim back my bank charges? Well I won! What’s more… I did it WITHOUT having to go to court. Initially I followed the basic instructions and standard pre-written letters provided by the Consumer Action Group which got me through the basic stages but ultimately led to a bunch of standard responses, so I decided to try writing my own letter in the hope that it would stand out in the sea of sea of pre-written letters and for whatever reason – it worked! Alliance & Leicester paid up the full amount that I requested without any argument and I have now been refunded a total of Ã?£1600 in bank charges from the last six years! (bizarrely – rather than just send me a cheque for the total the bank refunded each payment individually into my account, which now means the number of pages on my bank statement for this month is likely to run into double figures!). Still – a win is a win, and that’s good enough for me!

Wedding wise, the venue has changed. The missus wasn’t happy with Birtsmorton court and really wanted to get married in a castle, and what the missus wants the missus gets! We’re now getting married at Clearwell Castle in Gloucestershire on August 31st this year. I’m actually getting quite excited about the day – especially now the missus has agreed to let me wear red converse all stars (high tops) with my suit! She wasn’t especially keen to start with, but she eventually caved in.

Anyway… I hope to be back and blogging soon, but if you don’t see me frequently over the next six months – don’t be surprised!
