Solution: iTunes “Not Enough Memory” Bug! —
I’ve recently been having a tidy up of my mac mini as due to my obsessive photography problems my hard drive is getting full up (the little beast only has 80Gb and my external drive has died a death!). As part of this, I deleted a bunch of apps that I don’t really need – one of which was UNO, an application to give OSX a unified look and feel (believed to be something that will be done in the next version of OSX – Jaguar).
For some reason, since un-installing the UNO app, iTunes has been refusing to open and has been giving me the following error stating that there isn’t enough memory:
iTunes application could not be opened. There is not enough memory available
I found that pretty hard to believe considering that I have a gig of memory in this little silver box and every other app was running fine. So I did a little search and it would seem the solution is to reinstall iTunes. That would usually just be a case of downloading the installer from apple.com/itunes and installing the software.
Of course, OSX won’t let you install iTunes if it’s already installed – and I don’t want to lose all my settings and what not, so what to do? Easy, just delete the contents of ‘/Library/Receipts/iTunes/’, run the installer again and as if by magic – Problem solved!

Incredible – My iTunes has started giving me the same message today and, by chance, I just uninstalled Uno last night!
So did all of your music library, preferences, etc. remain unchanged after reinstalling?
Yup! Everything was as it was before – no changes whatsoever!
I got this same problem after uninstalling UNO yesterday.
What gives? Any ideas why UNO screws iTunes up?
I don’t know if this will help you, but I had problems of the same sort. My architecture is a little different than yours probably, so I thought that might be the trouble and still may, but I’ve just updated to 7.4.1 and it wouldn’t launch at all on the first go round, not even with any errors on this version? I completely racked my files trashing everything to do with any of Uninsanity’s software, ie, shapeshifter, application enhancer and so on. I also uninstalled UNO and any thing else that was giving me trouble before I reinstalled this version. I rebooted after I “cleaned house” and corrected my disk permissions with the disk utility, then I ran the new .dmg. To a very well welcomed surprise it not only launched, but I’ve been using it all day!!! I haven’t reinstalled all the other applications yet, but I’m working on it right now without any problems. I believe that SS is due an update, but they are probably waiting on Leopard. Hope this helps. This wasn’t meant to down any of Uninsanity’s software at all, just seemed, by the look of all the internal files, to be a better order of installation. Cheers, Camxso
