Apple - Bring It On! —
The latest rumours going round the web right now seem to indicate that Mr Jobs will be announcing something exciting on Wednesday. From what I can tell it's either going to be something to do with the PowerPC range (laptops and desktops) or a swanky new video iPod. Personally, I don't think it's going to be an improvement to the PowerPC stuff because any modifications are pointless until the new Intel chips are ready (apparently Apple com, and they're not due until next year.
I like the idea of a video iPod, although Steve Jobs has always said the whole iPod revolution was about the music and has consistently denied that they will ever make a video iPod. Then again, he also said he'd never use flash memory in iPods and yet a large chunk of the iPod product line-up includes flash based players (the Shuffle and iPod Nano). If Apple does decide to release a video iPod I will certainly be ensuring that one is sitting firmly in my hand on the morning of my birthday next month (yes… that was a subtle hint to my girlfriend).
The only other thing I can think of is the rumoured Apple tablet PC, which lets face it would just be abso-frigging-lutly cool. I think something between a newton and a 12″ iBook would be ace, perhaps A5 size totally touch screen, no keyboard and perfect handwriting recognition running a scaled down (but still awesome) mobile version of MacOSX.
Keep your eyes on Apple.com on the 12th of October… something cool is coming and I say “Apple - Bring it on!”. (actually… keep your eyes on thinksecret.com, appleinsider.com and macnn.com because they always annouce the news before it's on Apple sites anyway - I swear, they update the sites live from the press conference!).
